Abstract Efficiency in the public sector is considered as one of the most important indicators of good governance. The new managerial practices tent to pay more attention on how to improve and increase the public sector’s efficiency by using different tools. We focus on literature review to give a general overview on the current situation and main issues of efficiency measurement in the public sector, what factors should be taken into consideration and also some recommendations for further improvement and better results for adequate and better public sector products and services.
